Toronto Dental Crowns
Custom crowns that restore strength and shape
Rebuild a damaged tooth with a crown that fits
A cracked, worn, or heavily filled tooth can only take so much. A crown covers the whole tooth above the gumline and holds it together, so you can chew on that side again without thinking about it.
Our Toronto dental crowns are designed from a digital iTero scan and made by a dental lab, so the fit, bite, and colour are checked before anything is cemented. Most people arrive with a tooth that has already been through something, like a deep filling, a fracture, or a root canal, and want it settled for good.
How does a crown work at Canary Dental?
01
Examine & Plan
We take digital x-rays, look closely at the tooth and your bite, and tell you whether a filling would still do the job.
02
Shape The Tooth
The area is fully numbed first. We clear out decay and any failing filling, then shape what remains so the crown seats flush.
03
Scan & Match
An iTero scan captures the tooth without impression putty. We pick the material and shade with your neighbouring teeth right there to compare against.
04
Temporary Crown
You leave with a temporary crown so you can eat and smile normally while the lab builds the final one.
05
Fit & Cement
We check the fit, the bite, and the colour before it goes on for good.
When are Toronto dental crowns the right call?
- A tooth cracked or broken below the biting surface
- A large old filling that no longer supports what is left of the tooth
- A tooth that has had a root canal and needs protecting from fracture
- Decay too deep for a filling to rebuild safely
- A tooth worn down by grinding or an uneven bite
- A dental implant that needs its final tooth attached on top

Smiles Made Here
“I first came to this dental clinic for an emergency, and they were able to fit me in same day—I was so relieved. What could have been a really stressful experience ended up being the opposite. The staff was so kind and reassuring, and the dentist made my root canal completely stress-free and painless.”

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a dental crown?
A Toronto crown is a custom-made cap that covers the entire tooth above the gumline to restore its strength, shape and appearance. It is cemented in permanently, so it is not something you take out.
How many visits does a crown take?
Two. At the first we shape and scan the tooth and fit a temporary crown; at the second we fit and cement the final one from our lab. We do not offer same-day CEREC crowns.
Does getting a crown hurt?
No. The tooth and gum are fully numbed before we begin, so what you feel is pressure rather than pain. Mild tenderness for a day or two afterwards is normal.
How long do dental crowns last?
Ten to fifteen years is typical, and many go well beyond that. How you clean around the gumline affects that number more than the material does.
My crown came off. Can you help?
Yes, and call us as soon as you can. Keep the crown if you have it, because one that came away cleanly can often be re-cemented. Leaving the tooth uncovered risks decay and shifting.
Are Toronto dental crowns covered by insurance?
Most dental plans cover a portion of restorative work like crowns, though the percentage and annual maximum vary by plan. We will check your coverage and give you an estimate first.
Can I choose the colour of my crown?
Yes, and we match it to your neighbouring teeth so it does not stand out. If you are planning to whiten, tell us beforehand. Crowns don’t respond to whitening, so we would match your final shade.
